Liberia: CIC’s debut album gets release date
Liberian star CIC has announced the release date for his debut album.
The album has been anticipated in the artist’s home country since he hinted at its release in July.
Born Maurice Glayflor, the rapper has amassed a considerable following since his appearance on the music scene. Last year, he was selected as brand ambassador for MTN Lonestar.
“I am grateful to the people of Liberia for the confidence they have reposed in me, for identifying me as the key person they would like to see leading a powerful brand like LoneStar Cell MTN,” he said at the time. “I am a thoroughbred Liberian and LoneStar Cell MTN captures our identity through its unique brand position and offerings.”
The artist, who is also referred to as Cralorboi, would be appearing onstage at the 2018 Liberia Music Awards, which is now sponsored by MTN and is set to take place on 22 December. His album will be eligible for consideration at the 2019 edition of the awards.
Already, the artist has released the artwork for the album. He added a short note sharing the news of the forthcoming album release with his social media audience. “I’ve worked days and nights in putting stories about my life and other day-to-day activities into writing,” he wrote.
”For months all I wanted was to showcase our local language (Koloqua) to the world in a way it will be on par with the rest of Africa and the world in terms of quality and delivery. I wanna thank God, my team, my supportive fans, the media and everyone who have supported me in this struggle. This will officially be dropping 7 January, my debut album 1994.”
The album’s tracklist, which has also been released, features several international acts including Ghana’s Mzvee, Yaa Pono and Medikal, Nigeria’s Iyanya and Aramide and Zimbabwe's Buffalo Souljah. Liberian acts Jaredo, Bucky Raw and Nuchie Meek also appear on the album.
