The Zakes Bantwini Foundation will focus on providing mentorship, skills development and access to industry opportunities for women, young people and emerging creatives across South Africa.
Bantwini said the initiative is intended to address barriers between talent and professional opportunity.
“South Africa is filled with extraordinary talent. The foundation was created to help bridge the gap between passion and opportunity by equipping young people with the tools, knowledge and support needed to thrive in the creative and sports industries,” he said.
The foundation will introduce a series of programmes, including workshops for women in music, sport and the arts, as well as a youth talent incubator run in partnership with Mayonie Productions. It will also host an industry-focused summit covering music publishing, distribution and monetisation.
Additional initiatives include a creative arts festival featuring performances and exhibitions, alongside training programmes in sports leadership and digital media aimed at preparing young people for modern careers.
The foundation said its broader objective is to develop future innovators, artists, athletes and entrepreneurs by expanding access to structured support and industry networks.
It will also seek funding through sponsorships, partnerships and donations to sustain and scale its programmes.
