Apple Music releases new Isgubhu DJ Mix ft. DJ Lambo

The Isgubhu series is Apple Music’s editorial focus on African dance and electronic music, highlighting producers and DJs shaping club culture across the continent. The monthly series features genres including Afrohouse, 3-step, gqom and other forms of electronic music emerging from African scenes.

“I wanted to do a mix that will evoke the feeling of joy within the listener while immersing them in a predominantly African, deeply spiritual groove,” DJ Lambo said. “The mix was carefully curated to create a meaningful sonic journey featuring tracks from some of my favourite artists and producers.

“African dance and electronic music is rooted in traditional, deep, soulful rhythms, the experience stays with the listener, constantly evolving. This mix is joy, curated in sound.”

The mix blends Afrohouse, Afrotech and electronic sounds, moving between high-energy club tracks and more reflective sections. Featured artists include Shimza, Sun-El Musician, Tems and DJ Lag, among others from the African electronic music scene.

The selection reflects the growing international reach of African dance music, which continues to gain visibility through streaming platforms and global club circuits. The Isgubhu series forms part of Apple Music’s wider African editorial programme, which includes playlists and DJ mixes aimed at showcasing contemporary dance and electronic music trends on the continent.

Alongside the DJ mixes, the platform also features curated playlists highlighting emerging and established artists in African electronic music. This month’s Isgubhu playlist cover features South African artist Ciza, who is among a new generation of performers blending Afropop, Amapiano and global pop influences. He is currently preparing the release of a new album, Ciza’s Palace.

Born Olawunmi Okerayi, DJ Lambo is a long-standing figure in Nigeria’s music industry, with experience spanning DJing, radio broadcasting and live performance over more than 15 years. She has performed internationally and supported artists such as Burna Boy on major tours, including shows at venues such as Madison Square Garden and the London Stadium. She is also the founder of 707 Worldwide.
