Jaykatana is a rising South African hip-hop and trap artist from Johannesburg (notably Sandton).

He grew up moving across areas like Florida, Westbury, Riverlea, and Northcliff, which shaped his street-influenced perspective and lyrical content. His stage name comes from anime inspiration, referencing a character associated with a katana. Jaykatana is considered part of South Africa’s “new school” / underground-to-mainstream crossover wave. Broke through with tracks like “Eish!” and “AMG C63” His sound mixes trap, drill, and South African influences, making it both local and globally accessible
