Tanzanian Bongo Flava artist Aslay has released ‘Natulia’, the lead single from his forthcoming album MY WAY, which is scheduled for release on 9 May through Sony Music Africa and Rockstar Africa.
Aslay.
The single, released on 10 April, is the first of three tracks set to precede the 14-track album. Sung entirely in Swahili, ‘Natulia’ explores themes of emotional certainty and committed love.
“This song is not about chasing. It is about knowing,” Aslay said. “I already know where I belong, and I already know what I have. Every person who has ever found that kind of peace in love will feel this.”
The track incorporates references rooted in East African culture, including football rivalries and traditional imagery, to frame its message of devotion and personal conviction.
According to the release information, MY WAY will span Bongo Flava, Afro-soul and Afro-pop influences. The album will include only two guest collaborations, a move presented as part of Aslay’s focus on artistic independence.
Two additional singles, ‘Kapeperuka’ and ‘She’s Mine’, are expected to be released ahead of the album launch as part of the broader rollout campaign.
A music video for ‘Natulia’ premiered on YouTube alongside the single’s release, while radio promotion has begun in Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Nairobi and Mombasa.
Aslay has established a strong following across East Africa over the past decade through a catalogue of Bongo Flava releases centred on themes of love and personal experience. MY WAY is being positioned as one of his most personal projects to date.
