The acclaimed singer, widely regarded as one of the continent’s leading vocalists, is set to appear at Gold Reef City on Saturday, 16 May, in a live acoustic concert expected to draw audiences from across South Africa and the wider Southern African region.
Known to his supporters as “Le Padre”, Ferre Gola has built a decades-long career defined by his distinctive voice and emotionally driven songwriting. His work has earned him international recognition, with performances that have taken him to major global stages, including a recent sold-out show at the Accor Arena in Paris.
The Johannesburg concert is being promoted as a showcase of his catalogue of popular songs, performed in an intimate live format. Organisers say the event is intended to highlight African musical talent and cultural expression.
“This is not just another concert, it’s a cultural African moment, a celebration of African talent at its best,” said promoter Bob Richard Makandalele. “Ferre Gola’s arrival in Johannesburg is long overdue, and we are proud to bring this iconic artist to South African audiences for the very first time.”
The show will take place at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City, with doors opening at 6 p.m.
