The three-track release follows her previous album Pleasure in 20 Years and continues her focus on the manyalo genre, a style rooted in Sepedi pop traditions commonly associated with celebrations and social gatherings.
The EP’s title, which translates to “They Are Happy”, reflects its thematic emphasis on joy, unity and communal experience. The lead track, also titled ‘Ba Nyakalla’, is built on an uptempo dance rhythm characteristic of manyalo music, blending lively instrumentation with vocal-driven melodies.
Across the project, Pleasure Tsa Manyalo maintains a consistent approach centred on accessible, celebratory music often linked to weddings, family events and cultural occasions. The release combines elements of traditional sound with contemporary production, reinforcing the genre’s continued presence within South Africa’s music landscape.
Pleasure Ramadimetja Peta, known professionally as Pleasure Tsa Manyalo, is from Limpopo. She began recording music in 2005 and has since built a catalogue that includes tracks such as ‘Lefotwana, Laela’ and ‘Ke Lorile’. The latter ranked second in Thobela FM’s Song of the Year in 2022.
Outside music, she has worked in the agricultural sector and previously served in the South African Police Service. Her musical background is rooted in church, where she developed her early interest in performance.
Ba Nyakalla adds to her body of work within the manyalo genre, which remains closely tied to social and cultural celebrations in the region.
