Bio
Sinethemba Qhutywa known as Ungconde the stage name is a dynamic traditional music artist and dancer from the Eastern Cape. As the founder of Jongumsobomvu Art 2017, a collective and cultural podcasting and recording company, he is dedicated to preserving and promoting indigenous music and dance traditions.
He has received multiple nominations at the MCTMA Awards (2023–2025, including 2026) and has collaborated with Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality on the Ubumbano cultural events. In 2025, he contributed as a researcher on the Battle of Umngwanqa project, sponsored by ECPACC.
Ungconde’s discography includes standout releases such as Amahuku (2020), which has garnered over 4 million views on YouTube, Nyanga Mzi Ka Xhosa (2022), and his EP Ndithunyiwe (2024).
He has been featured across numerous radio platforms, including Ngqushwa FM, KQ FM, Vukani FM, Forte FM, Ilizwi FM, Umhlobo Wenene FM, and Zibonele FM. He has also appeared on Mpuma Kapa TV between 2022 and 2024.
His live performance experience includes appearances at notable events such as the 777 Club Organisation Dinner, Rhythm Culture Festival, and performances at the Boardwalk Casino in Gqeberha (2025).
