Symphonic Distribution acquires YouTube monetisation platform Distro Nation
Symphonic Distribution has acquired New York-based distributor and YouTube monetisation platform Distro Nation, expanding its capabilities in digital rights management and video revenue services.
Symphonic Distribution chief executive Jorge Brea.
Distro Nation, originally launched in 2011 as INDMUSIC, gained early attention for its role in viral campaigns, including Baauer’s Harlem Shake. The company was later absorbed by Live Nation as part of the Live Nation Video Network before regaining independence in 2024 under its current name, with a focus on YouTube channel management and monetisation.
The platform works with more than 200 artists, offering channel administration, reporting tools, monthly royalty payments and access to Tier A YouTube advertising rates. Its client list includes artists such as Lindsey Stirling, Sabaton, Yanni, Good Charlotte, Bryant Myers and Switchfoot. The deal also brings responsibility for managing Chappell Roan’s pre-2023 YouTube catalogue, covering material released before her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.
Symphonic said the acquisition will strengthen its work in areas including Content ID protection, monetisation of official and user-uploaded content, publishing royalty collection, channel optimisation and revenue analytics.
“Distro Nation, like Symphonic, has been a champion for independent artists for many years, providing invaluable resources to help artists thrive on YouTube and beyond,” Symphonic Distribution chief executive Jorge Brea said. “This acquisition was a natural partnership that will allow us to offer even better tools and strategies for success to our artist and label community. We’re excited to welcome Distro Nation and their clients to the Symphonic family.”
Jon Baltz, chief executive and co-founder of Distro Nation, said the company’s goal had been to adapt to changes in the music industry over the past 15 years. “Throughout the past 15 years at Distro Nation, our goal has always been to innovate and provide the support artists need to succeed in an ever-changing landscape,” he said. “We’re thrilled to join Symphonic and expand even further on what we’ve built.”
The acquisition positions Symphonic to expand its footprint in YouTube-focused music monetisation at a time when digital video continues to play a central role in artist revenue streams.
