Toty Sa' Med
Bio
Toty Sa'Med is a Lisbon-based singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist from Luanda, Angola. Toty’s unique brand of Afro-Jazz and neo-soul is bringing traditional African music to the forefront of today’s culture through creative compositions and a sound that is equally inspired by Bonga and Paulo Flores as it is by D'Angelo.
In 2016, Toty released “Ingombota,” an intimate EP that re-imagines classics from the Angolan songbook, co-produced by Kalaf Epalanga. ‘Namoro,’ the final track on the EP, was recognized as the best Afro-Jazz by Rádio Luanda. Toty has since partnered with artists Aline Frazão and José Eduardo Agualusa — with whom he composed the title song for the album ‘Moura,’ by Fado singer Ana Moura — as well as composed for Dino d'Santiago, Bateu Matou, Cristina Branch.
