Doors will open at 10 p.m. on 4 April, ahead of the marathon set, which will showcase a range of amapiano tracks, including deep cuts and unreleased material. The performance aims to trace the evolution of the genre while highlighting DBN Gogo’s influence on its global reach.
The 24-hour set is an unusual endurance feat within electronic music. While extended DJ performances are common in underground dance culture, the scale of this event places it among the most significant DJ showcases ever attempted by a South African artist.
Fans have speculated that the set may include appearances from other prominent figures in the Amapiano scene. The performance is expected to test the stamina and technical skill of DBN Gogo, who has established a reputation for energetic and technically precise sets.
Born Mandisa Radebe in Durban, DBN Gogo rose to prominence with the 2021 project Thokoza Cafe, a compilation that produced several chart-topping tracks and cemented her status as a tastemaker in amapiano. Since then, she has performed at major festivals and venues internationally and is recognised as a cultural ambassador for the genre.
The event is being framed not only as a party but as a milestone moment for South Africa’s dance music culture, reflecting amapiano’s growing global influence.
