Sony Music to release Michael Soundtrack album alongside biopic
Sony Music has announced the release of Michael: Songs from the Motion Picture, the official soundtrack to the upcoming biographical film Michael, based on the life of Michael Jackson.
The album will be released on 24 April 2026, coinciding with the film’s global cinema debut from Lionsgate and Universal Pictures. Pre-orders for the soundtrack have opened ahead of the release.
The album features 13 tracks spanning Jackson’s career, including music from his early years with The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons, as well as his solo work. Songs included on the soundtrack range from early hits such as ‘I’ll Be There’ and ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’ to later releases including ‘Billie Jean’, ‘Thriller’ and ‘Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough’.
The film Michael traces the singer’s life from his childhood as the lead vocalist of The Jackson 5 to his rise as one of the most influential figures in global music. It also explores aspects of his personal life alongside key performances from his career.
The production stars Jaafar Jackson in the lead role, alongside Nia Long, Miles Teller and Colman Domingo. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan.
Michael Jackson’s connection to South Africa remains notable, particularly following the final performance of his HIStory World Tour in Durban on 15 October 1997. The concert marked his last full-scale world tour performance and remains a significant moment in his global career.
The soundtrack will be made available across multiple formats on its release date.
