Black Coffee set to headline Lagos electronic music event
Black Coffee, the Grammy-winning South African DJ and producer, is scheduled to perform in Lagos, Nigeria on 5 April 2026, in an event organised by entertainment companies M:E Entertainment and DAPO.

The performance forms part of efforts by the organisers to expand Lagos’s reputation beyond its role as a global centre for Afrobeats and highlight the city’s growing electronic music scene.
Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, is widely recognised as one of the leading figures in Afro house music. The DJ, originally from Durban, South Africa, has performed at major international venues including DC10 in Ibiza and Avant Gardner in New York City.
According to the organisers, the Lagos show follows a series of events aimed at strengthening the city’s electronic music community. Over the past two years, M:E Entertainment has hosted performances that bring international DJs together with local audiences.
In March 2025, the company staged the “Rampa Lagos” event featuring German DJ Rampa. The show also included appearances by Nigerian artists Burna Boy and Olamide, drawing attention to the crossover between Afrobeats and electronic music audiences.
Organisers say the upcoming event is intended to further position Lagos as a destination for house and electronic music within Africa, alongside its established influence in Afrobeats.
Lagos has emerged as a key hub in Africa’s music industry, with its nightlife and live events sector attracting both international performers and local audiences. Promoters argue that the city’s electronic music scene, which has grown through club shows and smaller venues, is beginning to receive broader recognition.
Black Coffee has played a significant role in popularising Afro house internationally, performing at festivals and venues across Europe, North America and South America. His Lagos appearance is expected to draw both local fans and regional audiences interested in the genre.
