Open call: St. Petersburg International New Music Festival composition course
Applications are now open for the 2026 Online Composition Course, presented by the Saint Petersburg Contemporary Music Center as part of the St. Petersburg International New Music Festival. The programme forms part of the festival’s 13th edition and will run online from 23 May to 5 June.
Applications close on 7 March 2026.
The course is aimed at emerging composers aged 18 and over and offers an intensive two-week virtual programme focused on contemporary composition practice.

Eligibility
- Open to composers aged 18 and above from all countries.
- Applicants may apply to more than one course group.
- Proficiency in spoken English is recommended, as all teaching is conducted in English.

Applicants must submit via the official online portal:

- Short biography
- Samples of recent scores
- Audio recordings (where available)
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Participation requirements and conditions
- Participants are expected to attend all scheduled classes, lectures and workshops.
- Attendance may be taken into account when assessing participation.
- Travel, accommodation, living expenses and visa costs are the responsibility of participants.
- For those wishing to visit Saint Petersburg, an official invitation letter may be provided, but this does not guarantee visa approval.
- Visa decisions remain solely at the discretion of the relevant embassy or consulate.
Course groups and fees
Participants may apply to up to eight groups: A0–A4, B1, B2 or C.
Group A0 – €1190 (about $1400)
- Minimum of three one-hour individual lessons with three tutors
- Premiere performance and professional recording of a new ensemble work
- Publication of the score by reMusik.org
Group A1 – €750
- Minimum of three one-hour individual lessons with three tutors
- Premiere performance and professional recording of a new ensemble work
Group A2 – €680
- Minimum of three one-hour individual lessons with three tutors
- Performance and professional recording of an existing ensemble work
Group A3 – €340
- At least one one-hour individual lesson
- Premiere performance and professional recording of a new solo work
Group A4 – €320
- At least one one-hour individual lesson
- Performance and professional recording of an existing solo work
Group B1 – €310
- Minimum of two one-hour individual lessons
- Partial performance during an online ensemble reading session
Group B2 – €250
- At least one one-hour individual lesson
- Partial performance during an online soloist reading session
Group C – €190
- Minimum of two one-hour individual lessons
Free auditors
- Access to all online educational events
- Preliminary registration required
Selection process
- Applications are reviewed by a jury of composers, performers and members of the reMusik.org faculty.
- The selection committee may request additional information or adjust course arrangements if required.
