Calum Scott returns to SA with Avenoir tour as Cape Town show sells out
British singer and songwriter Calum Scott has returned to South Africa as part of his global Avenoir Tour, with performances scheduled in Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria.
The tour marks Calum Scott’s first South African dates since his 2023 visit.
The Cape Town concert, set for 14 January, has sold out, while limited tickets remain available for the Durban show on 16 January and Pretoria on 17 January. The tour marks Scott’s first South African dates since his 2023 visit and follows growing demand for his live performances in the country.
Scott first toured South Africa in 2018 in support of his debut album Only Human. Subsequent tours in 2022 and 2023 drew large audiences, establishing the country as a regular stop on his international touring circuit.
“I remember my first time in South Africa, being blown away by the demand for tickets, and it made me feel so special,” Scott said. “Every time I’ve been back, I’ve felt the same love and excitement.”
The tour supports Scott’s third studio album, Avenoir, released on 10 October 2025 via Capitol Records. The 14-track album represents a stylistic shift for the singer, blending piano-led ballads with more groove-driven and experimental material. Its title is drawn from John Koenig’s The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, where “avenoir” is defined as the desire for memory to flow backwards.
Explaining the album’s concept, Scott said: “‘Avenoir’ refers to how we move through life like a rower moves – always moving forward but facing backward, seeing where we’ve been but not where we’re going.”
The album includes singles such as ‘Die For You’, ‘God Knows’ and ‘Unsteady’, as well as a collaboration with Lauren Alaina on ‘One More Drink’. It also features an estate-approved reinterpretation of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)’, using Houston’s original vocal stems.
Scott’s South African dates form part of a wider international tour spanning 48 cities across Europe, Africa, Asia, North America and the UK. The shows follow his recent appearances supporting Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour in stadiums across Asia and Europe.
Local artists have been announced as opening acts for the South African concerts. Anica Kiana is set to open in Cape Town, Apple Gule will perform in Durban, and indie-pop duo Easy Freak will open the Pretoria show.
With Cape Town sold out and limited availability remaining for the other dates, the South African leg of the Avenoir Tour reflects sustained demand for Scott’s live performances. The artist has amassed more than 10 billion streams globally, with music that continues to find a wide audience across international markets.
