Gunna announces African dates following $15 Million North American tour
Despite concerns over rap’s ability to fill venues and a slip in the genre’s 2025 sales share, American rapper Gunna has reported strong commercial results from his Wun World Tour, grossing nearly $15 million and selling roughly 200,000 tickets across 18 North American shows. Highlights included a sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden and two concerts in Toronto.

Following his North American run, Gunna is set to perform at three major African festivals. He will appear at Lagos’ Detty December Festival on 29 December, Cape Town’s Milk & Cookies Festival on 3 January, and a follow-up show at Johannesburg’s Milk & Cookies Festival on 10 January. These appearances mark a significant step for the rapper in connecting with African audiences.
The Georgia-born artist is also extending his tour to Australia and Europe, including Rolling Loud Australia on 7 and 8 March, followed by eight European dates. Live Nation reports that all but two of the European shows – second nights in Amsterdam and London – have already sold out.
In a notable addition to the tour, Gunna integrated seven “Wunna Run Club 5K” events alongside his concerts, drawing more than 5 000 participants. These events combine fitness with fan engagement, echoing similar initiatives by artists such as Diplo and Travis Barker.
2025 has been mixed for live entertainment, particularly for rap, with some artists experiencing weaker ticket sales. Established performers like Gunna and Lil Wayne, however, have maintained strong attendance. Gunna’s latest album, The Last Wun, has accumulated approximately 600 million Spotify streams since its August release, compared with Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter VI, which has generated around 128 million streams since June.
The year also saw the conclusion of Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus Tour, which Live Nation described as “the biggest rap tour from a solo artist in history,” selling over 2.2 million tickets across six continents and grossing more than $250 million.
Gunna’s forthcoming African shows are expected to strengthen his presence on the continent and highlight the continued global reach of rap music, despite wider industry challenges.
