Sibusiso Ketwa

Bio

Sibusiso Ketwa is a South African marketing, communications, and events professional with over 20 years’ experience bridging the creative arts and corporate sectors. Born in Umlazi and raised in Hammarsdale, Ketwa’s passion for storytelling and the performing arts began at an early age. While still in high school, he co-produced It Stings Like a Bee, a musical that toured boarding schools across KwaZulu-Natal, earning him the Excellent Leadership Award in Drama. He later founded the Mpumalanga Theatre Company in Hammarsdale, where he wrote and directed the acclaimed musical Township Kids, which won the Surf Drama Festival.

 

Ketwa holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing, a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management, and professional certificates in Events Management and Public Relations, equipping him with a strong foundation in marketing strategy, project leadership, and communications.

 

In 2019, he founded Gabiso Media, a marketing, PR, and events company dedicated to the creative industries. Through Gabiso Media, Ketwa has managed marketing, publicity, and events for top South African artists and productions, including Judith Sephuma, Selaelo Selota, Phinda Mtya-Matlala, Mbongeni Ngema, Sarafina!, Rhythms – The Gumboots Show, and numerous music concerts. Internationally, he has delivered PR for Freddie Jackson, Bebe Winans, Dru Hill, Jeffrey Osborne, Kem, Glenn Jones, Johnny Gill and Babyface.

 

Institutions such as the Market Theatre and South African State Theatre have entrusted him with PR for their productions. He has also led marketing and events for corporate and public-sector clients, including the South African Civil Aviation Authority and the National Film and Video Foundation, managing high-profile initiatives such as the SAFTAs, Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards, and the Civil Aviation Industry Awards.
