Talking Drums Festival

Bio

Founded in early 2025, the Talking Drums Festival is a groundbreaking addition to Africa’s live music landscape and marks a bold step toward elevating hip-hop culture on the continent. Set to debut in Accra, Ghana, on 29–30 December 2025, the festival is billed as Africa’s largest hip-hop celebration and seeks to unite influential voices, emerging talent, and global audiences under one cultural banner. Designed as a two-day immersive experience, Talking Drums will showcase more than 40 artists representing diverse regions of Africa and the wider diaspora.

The festival is produced in partnership with Republic of Amusement and the Black Star Experience—Ghana’s flagship tourism and cultural diplomacy initiative dedicated to promoting the country as a creative and artistic hub. Built on the pillars of music, fashion, dance, and storytelling, Talking Drums aims to honour hip-hop’s past, celebrate its present evolution, and empower its future in African spaces. Beyond performances, the event is envisioned as a platform for cultural exchange, artistic collaboration, and the amplification of African narratives within global hip-hop discourse.

With its ambitious vision, strong institutional support, and commitment to bridging communities across continents, the Talking Drums Festival is poised to establish itself as a landmark annual event and a defining force in shaping the next chapter of African hip-hop culture.
