The pair, who have previously worked together on ‘Ngeke n’Believe’e’ and ‘Di Kgomo’, return with a track that continues their blend of melodic vocals and dancefloor-driven production. Both earlier releases achieved strong online traction, with ‘Di Kgomo’ reaching the top position on YouTube’s trending chart.
JayJayy, whose real name is Jadrean, has emerged as a prominent young voice in the amapiano scene. At 19, she has contributed vocals to a number of widely streamed songs, including Art and Simplicity with Royal Musiq, Didiza with Shakes & Les and 031 Choppa, and Mama with Shoesmeister.
“‘Phesheya’ sees JayJayy lean into a softer, romantic side of amapiano,” a statement reads. “It’s a love song at heart, carried by Mordecai’s warm production and her smooth, soulful delivery. This one means a lot to me. It’s about that kind of love that feels close and real, the kind that makes you smile without even realising. We wanted to make something people can feel, not just dance to.”
