Applications close on 19 December and outcomes will be announced on 30 January 2026.
The bursary initiative forms part of the NAC’s efforts to strengthen the arts sector by investing in training and education. Funding is available for South African postgraduate students pursuing studies in music, theatre, dance, crafts, literature, multidiscipline arts, visual arts, cultural policy, arts and culture management, and other arts-related fields. Applicants for Bachelor of Technology degrees in the arts are also eligible.
According to the NAC, priority will be given to postgraduate programmes that address rare or scarce skills needed within the sector.
The call is open to individuals undertaking full-time or part-time postgraduate study in 2026. Grants may be renewed for the duration of the qualification, provided students successfully complete each academic year with a minimum overall pass rate of 65%.
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants must register and submit their documents via the NAC’s online platform here.
