Lioness Afreeka is a Kenyan-born reggae and Afro-fusion artist whose music is deeply rooted in African identity, cultural pride, and conscious storytelling. Known for her commanding vocal presence and spiritually grounded lyrics, she has built a career that bridges East Africa and Europe, blending traditional reggae foundations with Afrobeat, dancehall, and contemporary global sounds.
Born and raised in Mombasa, Kenya, Lioness Afreeka’s relationship with music began at an early age. Growing up in a culturally rich coastal environment, she was surrounded by diverse musical influences ranging from traditional African rhythms to gospel, reggae, and popular East African sounds. Her earliest performances took place in church choirs and school events, where she developed not only her vocal strength but also a deep appreciation for music as a tool for expression, healing, and connection.
Her professional music journey began in 1999, when she joined the popular Kenyan band Big Matata.
