This year’s event will run under the theme Bridging the Cultural Gap and aims to highlight cultural links between Ghana and South Africa through music, art, food and dance.
Ghanaian musician Kwabena Kwabena will headline the festival. Known for songs such as ‘Aso’, ‘Ka Kyere Me’ and ‘Kwadede’, the award-winning artist will perform alongside South African DJs, traditional dance groups and the Sankofa International Band.
The festival will feature parades of Ghanaian kings and queens representing the Ashanti, Ewe, Ga, Dagomba and Nzima tribes, as well as stalls offering traditional food, crafts and fashion. Other attractions will include artisanal vendors, cultural textile displays and activities for families.
Mama Money returns as headline sponsor for the third consecutive year. The South African-based fintech company provides international money transfer services to more than 70 countries across Africa, Asia and Europe. “GhanaFEST SA isn’t just an event, it’s a celebration of identity, connection, and progress. Mama Money is proud to support this platform that unites communities and celebrates the vibrant spirit of Ghana in South Africa,” Mama Money co-founder and director Matt Coquillon said.
Other partners for the 2025 event include Thunes, Kenya Airways, Sedglo Group, Glory Computers and Sheila Afari PR.
The Mama Money GhanaFEST SA was established to promote Ghanaian heritage in South Africa while fostering cross-cultural exchange between communities.
