Bass and Traditional Kirar Player

Kirar is one of the most popular and old string Ethiopian traditional musical instrument used for secular and sacred music. Dimetros Emawayew is one of the best young Kirar players in Addis Ababa born on March 02/1995.
Educational Background
He begun attended his church education when he was 4 and followed his KG at “Kibebe-Tsehay”. And then he attended elementary and secondary education in “Bilichita”, “Yekatit 66” and “Minilik II” preparatory school. He got his BA degree by computer science from St. Mary’s University on June 2017. In 2025 he attend Sound Engineering class in Mardas Sound Engineering School Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Music Life
Dimetros has got introduced to his beloved kirar by the age of 14 in YTH (non-governmental organization working on children education and talents) and joined the traditional music group of Circus Ethiopia, Addis Abeba. Since then, he started playing his Base Kirar in many different cultural restaurants and clubs in the city.
He join “Moseb Cultural Band” on 2012 and plays a role as an assistant manager of the Band. Dimetros has played with many amateur and professional musicians like Dr. Mulatu Asatke, Muhamud Ahmed, Henok Temesgen, Abegazu Shiota, Dawit Tsige, Veronica Adane, Jorga Mesffin, Abey Weldemariam, Gash Abera Molla and other musicians live on the stage and participated on the album recording. He is also very talented musician by sharing his knowledge and skill on different workshops about traditional music, life skill trainings as well as volunteering activities.
Addition to performing music in live stage, he also doing live sound installation, mixing and Recording with studio mixing.
By being a founding member of Rotract Club of OLYAD district 9212, President for Student Union in 2016/17 and employee in Student Wellness office in 2018/2019 in St. Mary’s University and teacher of basic computer courses in Excel research and training institution in his part time, Dimetros has built an important basement of communication skills and professional values for his music life and carrier.
Dimetros is one of the best young generation musician who has a big dream to promote Ethiopian cultural music to the rest of the world by his Bass and traditional Kirar.
