The Namibian

Established in 1985 by Gwen Lister, The Namibian is one of the largest daily newspapers in Nambia. The publication is published in English and Oshiwambo languages. It started as a weekly relying on support from donors for its upkeep. Its debut edition appeared in the streets on 30 August 1985 with a print run of 10,000 copies. It became a daily newspaper on 1 April 1989.

The Namibian has many sections such as news, sports, entertainment, opinions and business. The entertainment section consists of Big Brother Africa, music, celebrities, arts and books. The publication has done much coverage on music section. It covers reality shows, album launches, music and film festivals and many cultural related events.

In addition, The Namibian immensely contributed to the country’s press freedom and nation-building.
