Joyful Sounds Choir Competition

Joyful Sounds is a festival of Namibian choirs that combine vocal choral and instrumental music. The competition is characterized by musicians who play music instruments on an individual basis. The competition engages church and non-church affiliated choirs in a joint competition for the title of ‘Last Choir Singing’. It was initiated by Namibia Gospel Music Trust in partnership with the National Theatre of Namibia and NBC Television.

Some of the artists and choirs which have participated in this competition include gospel artist Esme, The Mission Work Youth Choir, Bella Voge, Adoration Choir, Okahandja Youth Choir, Christian Assemblies, Ploy Choir, Soli Deo Gloria Choir, The Lord With Us Choir, Joy Divine and Big K’s choirs.

In August 2014, Joyful Sounds Choir Competition conducted auditions. The competition was held at the National Theatre of Namibia from 7 to 22 November 2014. In October 2014, the choir competition received sponsorship from Vigo, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), the NTN and the FNB Foundation.
