Call for applications: ACT bursary programme South Africa
South Africa’s funding and development agency Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) is calling on students to apply for a postgraduate bursary programme for the 2018 academic year. The deadline for applications is 10 November.
- ACT will be giving out bursaries worth $22 000.
As part of the requirements, the prospective student must be South African and must have already applied to study a postgraduate degree in any arts discipline. Preference, however, will be given to those wishing to study arts journalism or arts administration.
As part of the development programme, which is supported by Nedbank through the Nedbank Arts Affinity Programme, ACT will be giving out bursaries to the tune of R300 000 ($22 000).
“We are very excited with this addition to our flagship programme. With Nedbank’s commitment to the arts, we are able to invest more in our community,” ACT CEO Marcus Desando said.
The marketing manager for the Nedbank Arts Affinity Programme, Gerry Raftopoulos, said: “Supporting further education of artists is an important part of the development of the arts industry. Nedbank is committed to assisting students along their journey as they strive to become experts in their craft.”
Rated among the top independent arts funding and development agencies in the country, ACT’s primary aim is to increase the amount of funding available for arts and culture initiatives, and to apply these funds to innovative, sustainable projects that make a meaningful contribution to society.
ACT is known for providing support for all expressions of arts and culture such as music, literature, visual arts, festivals, community arts initiatives, arts management, arts education and arts administration.
