DJ JOOZEY

Joseph Simion Misa, professionally known as DJ Joozey, is Tanzania’s most popular rising dee-jay and aspiring producer.

Born in a tiny town in northern Tanzania, Joseph ’s interest in music began at an early age, listening to radio and eavesdropping at local bars in his rural hood. Raised by a single mother, Joseph experienced a tough childhood, later vowing to succeed in life and enable his family with a better life. He left for the capital city to take on tough jobs in the streets of Dar-es-Salaam until he discovered the magic of DJ performance – watching national greats DJ Steve and DJ D Ommy spin live at Fiesta Festival. He was immediately mesmerized and resolved to similarly impact people through music - and be the best at it.

Saving up everything he had to arm himself with a laptop and FL Studio and Serato DJ software, Joozey pushed himself to learn the craft and affirmed his calling, from opening act to headlining local shows in just a year. In four short years since his DJ debut, DJ Joozey has risen to the top, becoming the youngest, most sought after and highest paid DJ in the country, gaining demand and popularity across East Africa and internationally.

Currently a resident DJ at two of the most happening hotspots - Elements Nightclub, a premium club in Dar-es-Salaam and Wavuvi Camp beachfront, also signed with entertainment company Str8up Vibes, and play on the biggest stages with renown local and international artists, Joozey continues to demonstrate his growing influence and star power through endorsement deals with a number of brands.

More recently, Joozey has dived into the world of music production, releasing his first Amapiano influenced Bongo Flava track ‘Tobetsa’ featuring popular African artists Marioo (TZ) and Musa Keys (SA) which received incredible response trending on streaming platforms, and is currently recording his first EP.
