SA: Apple Music features SunMan on Up Next programme
South African alternative rock band SunMan has been added to Apple Music’s Up Next programme.

The announcement coincides with the release of the band’s debut EP Love and Other Accidents, where the trio debuts with a nostalgic take on modern rock.
“Apple Music Up Next is an absolute game changer for us,” SunMan said. “This is what we have been working towards right from the beginning and can’t believe we’ve been granted this massive opportunity so early in our careers.
“We are filled with an incredible amount of gratitude and excitement, as this fuels our ambition and work ethic tenfold. What’s next is now larger than anything we could have imagined. Thank you for seeing us and what we have to bring to the table, we will not let you down.”
As the latest South African act to be spotlighted by Apple Music, SunMan will be on Apple Music’s Up Next playlist, which features a dynamic class of new and emerging artists, hand-picked by Apple Music editors from around the world. It is genre agnostic and represents a line-up of artists Apple Music global editors are passionate about and eager to expose to a larger audience.
SunMan is composed of 21-year-olds Luca Paterson-Jones (vocals and songwriting), Zac Hasenfuss (guitar) and Niclaus Duvenhage (keys), who became friends over music in high school and formed the band after graduation. It was their shared love of experimenting with music that inspired them to pour all their efforts into SunMan. The band released their upbeat indie rock debut single ‘Gone Electric’ (2021), followed by the slower, broodier ‘Left Here for Dead’ (2021).
