About BAHATI FEMALE BAND
Since 2020, the Bahati Female Band has been entertaining audiences with its music and empowering women through artistic community engagement. Made up of 25 multi-talented artists based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the all-female band embodies artistic and musical versatility. Performing a fusion of contemporary and traditional styles, the Bahati Female Band caters to an audience that enjoys African beats and a variety of musical genres. Beyond their ability to sing, play a wide range of instruments, and entertain audiences musically, these artists also possess talent and interest in dance, drama, and other artistic pursuits.

In an industry often dominated by men, the Bahati Female Band’s goal is to nurture the skills of budding female artists and musicians and give them a platform with which they can explore their creative potential. The band’s uplifting attitude is inclusive of all women, reflected in its empowerment of female musicians with disabilities and their important contributions to the arts.

PERFOMANCES
The Bahati Female Band’s success in both musical performance and community engagement has been reflected in a variety of events and festivals, such as the Sauti za Busara Festival - Zanzibar, Marafiki Music Festival – Dar es salaam, Zanzibar International Film Festival, Bagamoyo International Festival of Arts and Culture, Wikiendi Live Festival as well as several popular arts spaces in Dar es Salaam, including Nafasi Art Space, Alliance Francaise, CDEA and Goethe Institut. The Band has also performed at several government, embassies, local and international CSOs events.

AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
• In 2021, The Band was recognized and received a Champion Prize from the Euro Union Delegation in Tanzania in collaboration with the Union of CSOs, recognizing their active role as artists who empower women and advocate against gender-based violence.
• In 2022 and 2023, the Bahati Female Band was nominated in different categories at the Tanzania Music Awards.
• In 2021, the President of National Republic of Tanzania, rewarded the Band with a full set of musical instruments and other equipment for the group as a recognition to the band’s efforts in empowering and uplifting women through music.
• In 2023, Bahati Female Band implemented the Binti Sanaa Project, which supported young women with artistic talent through training and mentorship.
• In 2025–2026, the band is implementing the Nithamini Project – Art Advocacy for Disability Rights, which uses music to promote disability rights.
