Ofentse Moses Sebula

Ofentse Sebula is a captivating saxophonist, composer, recording artist, performing artist, and band leader; hailing from the artistic community of Tembisa.

His music foundation was laid and cultivated at the Molelekwa Arts Foundation where he-under the mentorship of Jerry Molelekwa-went on to be an integral member of the Taiwa Jazz Band.
Committed to his craft, Sebula furthered his studies at the Tshwane University of Technology, graduating cum laude in 2021. In the same year, he recorded his debut album H.O.P.E (Holding On to Positive Expectations) and formed part of the prestigious Standard Bank Youth Band under the directorship of Dr Nduduzo Makhatini.

Sebula's distinguished play has made him a sought after collaborator, who has graced various stages along the likes of Ndabo Zulu, Thembinkosi Mavimbela, Spha Mdlalose, Siya Makhuzeni, Msaki, Kujenga, Iphupho L'ka Biko, and the Hugh Masekela Band, to name but a few. Being a versatile musician, Sebula has also worked on numerous theatre productions including The African Mamas (which toured across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany), Can Themba's The Suit - Concertized, and Nkoli: The Vogue Opera.

In 2024, Sebula won the Yamaha Young Soloist Competition after winning the Yamaha Gulf Saxophone Scholarship competition in Dubai a year prior, formed part of the MIAGI Orchestra, headlined Kids Love Jazz and the winter live show series hosted by Hidden Spaces in collaboration with Goethe Institut.

More recently, Ofentse Sebula has collaborated on projects with artists such as Thato Modika, Rorisang Sechele, Diteboho, Kimetsu, Shuri, Keenan Meyer, [kimetsu.], Mpumi Dhlamini, and Zoë Modiga. He has also performed with the German Federal Youth Orchestra, worked alongside American hip hop MC/rapper, producer, and DJ, J-Live.

True to his growth as a musician, Sebula is working on a new project, designed to showcase his immaculate skill as a composer.
