ACP-EU: Investing in the African cultural sector

With a budget of €40m for the period 2019-24, the programme seeks to encourage entrepreneurship and cultural innovation with a special focus on the participation of the youth, creating new jobs and increasing artists’ and cultural professionals’ revenues, raising the quality of African, Caribbean and Pacific cultural productions, and valorising these cultural productions and the artists who create them for international markets.

The ACP-EU Culture Programme, which is responsible for funding the Music In Africa Foundation and Goethe-Institut’s Sound Connects Fund for Southern Africa, will support the cultural sector through various actions and tools including three calls for proposals in the sectors of audio-visual co-production, culture and creation in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, a dedicated team of experts and staffs in charge of the programme’s daily management in Brussels, Belgium, a web-based platform enabling culture professionals to meet, network, exchange information and share projects, as well as a communication and visibility strategy and toolkit.
