Zim: Listen to TheLastLetter’s Real Ones single
South Africa-based Zimbabwean trap-soul singer TheLastLetter has released a single titled ‘Real Ones’.
The song is available for download and streaming on major digital platforms. ‘Real Ones’ was written by TheLastLetter and produced by Zino D.
“‘Real Ones’ serves as a thank you note to people who have played a huge role in supporting me through all my struggles, especially at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the 21-year-old told Music In Africa. “In the song, I describe what a real one is, how they move around you and what they mean to me. I would really love people to share it with their loved ones. My biggest achievement with the song would be that everyone who listens to it feels special and loved.”
Asked where she drew the inspiration to write the song, TheLastLetter said: “Almost everyone had a hard time last year and people are still dealing with loss, be it of friends or family, a relationship, or even of an income.”
She added: “I chose to call it ‘Real Ones’ because after I finished writing the song, I thought ‘well, not only do I repeat it a bunch of times in the song, it’s literally all the song is about’. Everyone who sees the title already knows what it’s about and relates right from the beginning.”
Born Zanele Ndlovu, TheLastLetter is working on a five-track EP set for release around June/July. Some of her previous songs include ‘The Void’, ‘No Cap’ and ‘Crazy.’ Besides music, TheLastLetter is a passionate mental health activist and hosts The Pink Room podcast.
