Call for applications: Nafasi Art Space membership in Tanzania

Based in Dar es Salaam, the organisation provides artists of all disciplines with the space, time and community to explore the kind of questions that challenge and broaden their imagination to drive their careers forward.

The programme offers artists a chance to be part of an active and diverse community of artists find networking opportunities to exhibit and perform at events organised by the arts institution. 

Successful applicants will be required to pay a sum of 25 000 Tanzanian shillings for general membership. Contributions or fees for short-term residencies will range from TSh 40 000 and TSh 80 000 depending on the nature of the project and the number of people taking part. 

Members will receive the following:

• Access to shared working spaces.
• Time-based access to individual studios.
• Priority access to workshops, masterclasses and mentorship sessions with established artists locally and abroad. 

Eligibility

This call targets performing and visual artists at any point in their career, and exploring the following art forms:

• Music
• Dance
• Theatre
• Painting
• Sculpture
• Mixed media
• Video
• Photography
• Installations

Requirements

• A letter of motivation.
• Biography/profile.
• Proof of work previously done (portfolio).
