Call for applications: 2021 Center for Ballet and Arts fellowship in the US
The Center for Ballet and Arts (CBA) at New York University is accepting applications for its 2021-22 residency programme.
CBA is an international research institute for scholars and artists of ballet and its related arts and sciences.
CBA is accepting applications from artists and scholars across disciplines to work on projects that expand the human view on history, practice, and performance of dance. The residency will occur between September 2021 and May 2022.
Eligibility
Artists and scholars who intend to pursue the following art disciplines are encouraged to apply:
- Music
- Dance
- History
- Design
- Philosophy
- Visual arts
- Religion
- Literature
Scholars and artists from the following African countries can apply:
- Djibouti, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Sudan, Somalia and Tunisia.
CBA does not support the following projects:
- Projects in arts administration.
- Projects focusing on the applicant’s memoir or autobiography.
- Projects involving dance classes.
- Projects such as editing, digitising or organising archives, editing films or book anthologies.
Successful applicants will receive the following:
- A weekly allowance of $750.
- Access to CBA’s community of 150 plus artists and scholars.
- Use of CBA's dance studio, offices and conference rooms.
- Accommodation.
- Round trip transportation to and from New York City.
- J-1 visa facilitation.
Note:
- Applicants are not required to be experts in dance, but must have an interest in engaging with the art form.
- Applicants applying with scholarly projects (e.g. journal articles, monographs) must have a PhD.
- Applicants must show exceptional promise and/or have demonstrated significant accomplishments in their field.
- CBA encourages applicants from all career stages to apply.
Selected applicants will benefit from the following:
