Wiyaala for boxing charity event
Ghanaian singer Wiyaala Noella will be performing at Millionaires Boxing 4 Charity. The event, scheduled for October 24, will take place at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Ghana’s capital, Accra.
This announcement comes months after the Tema born singer received four nominations at the 2014 All Africa Music Awards. The singer, popularly called the Young Lioness of Africa, later won both the Revelation of the Continent and Most Promising Artiste in West Africa categories.
Set up to promote autism awareness in Ghana, Millionaires Boxing 4 Charity will see Issah Samir, who has remained undefeated, square up against Philip Kotey. On the line is the National and West African Boxing Union Middleweight championship.
Funds from the bout will go to the Autism Awareness Care and Training (AACT) centre at Kokomlemle, Accra; the Egyam Children's Orphanage in the Western Region and the St. Augustine's RC Primary School in Ashaiman. The benefitting institutions have various needs, ranging from renovations of ICT centre to the provision of a dormitory. The arrangement will be made possible by the Boxing 4 Charity Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
In April, Wiyaala was nominated for six awards at the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, taking two home. She won in the Songwriter category as well as the Best Female Vocal Performance category for the song ‘Tinambaynyi’.
