SAMAs Day 5: All the winners

The closing night of the five-episode awards ceremony ran under the subtheme #ForThaClub and featured Nasty C who performed his new singles ‘That's Hard’ and ‘Palm Trees’ from an empty warehouse, while Holly Rey performed ’You’ on a Johannesburg rooftop.

Amapiano stars Kabza De Small and Sha Sha completed the performances with ‘Koko’ and ‘Tender Love’. Somizi Mhlongo made a surprise guest appearance and strutted some dance moves to Master KG's popular hit ‘Jerusalema’.

Hosts Dineo Langa and Donovan Goliath were again joined by the My Muze reaction crew, including Skhumba Hlophe, Rebecca Malope, DJ Ankletap, Tswyza and Supta, who all gave running commentary throughout the show.

Blaq Diamond received the top honours in the Record of the Year category for the hit ‘Ibhanoyi’. Other winners on the night included Francois van Coke, who won the Best Rock Album Award for Dagdrome in Suburbia, and Prince Kaybee, who bagged the Album of the Year Award for Re Mmino.

With three trophies apiece, Prince Kaybee, Benjamin Dube and Ndabo Zulu & Umgidi Ensemble are the biggest winners at this years' SAMAs.

"We at the SAMA are delighted that despite the COVID-19 restrictions of lockdown and social distancing, the show has indeed gone on,” RiSA CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi said. “We extend our congratulations to all the musicians who received the prestigious SAMA, as well as the nominees and our honourees. Let's stand by our artists and support their efforts.”
