Noumoucounda Cissoko

Bio

Born in a griot musical family, Noumoucounda Cissoko is a kora player, percussionist and lead vocalist from Senegal. He is a perfectionist artist, with an extraordinary sense of improvisation and adaptation. His mastery of rhythm and melody make this one of the most gifted musicians of his generation.

Noumoucounda has left his trace in Switzerland, France, Canada, Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique and Tanzania (among other) where he came , played and conquered hearts.

During international tours great artist have engaged him to participate in several art events along with other renowned artists such as Youssou Ndour, Ky Many Marley (son of Bob Marley), Ira Colman (bassist Herbie Hancock) Ernest Ranglin, Alpha Blondy, Omar Pene, Red Rat, Princess Erika, Lara Fabian and MC Solaar.

Besides music, he graduated from the Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts in Dakar, after four years of study in dance and kora. Noumoucounda presents the traditional kora with a new and dynamic sound adapting his traditions to different and contemporary musical styles.
