Msaga Sumu

Selemani Jabir Msonjele popularly known as Msaga Sumu is a Tanzanian singeli singer and songwriter signed under Kandoro Baba Entertainment. Msonjele is credited as one of the pioneers of singeli music, which has been ricocheting around the ghettos circling Dar es Salaam for almost 15 years, with unbridled synth lines, percussion pitch-shifted up to alien frequencies and super-speed lyrical flows.
The singer launched his career in 2007 by performing his compositions but it was not until 2012 that he recorded his first song in studio. In 2018, Msojele became the first singeli act to release an album-
Mwanaume Mashine. Over the years, he has had numerous hits including Mama wa Kambo, Babu wa Luanga, Uswahilini Sihami, Unanitega Shemeji, Mwanaume Mashine, and many more. On the stage, Msonjele performes with Khalid Khalid popularly known as DJ Msolopa – his official producer and DJ.
Through the Uswazi Born Talented (UBT) centre, Msonjele has mentored many artists from the streets an initiative that earned him the title Mfalme wa Uswahilini (King of the Street). Currently, he is the most influential musical brand image of Singeli music, which is urguably the most popular mainstream music in Tanzania.
