New Dawn

Bio

Mwewa Choongo Shanzala, best known as New Dawn is a musician from Zambia. He was born and raised in Ndola. He is the second born in a family of four, two boys and two girls. He grew up in a music environment where music was appreciated. Dawn was encouraged to sing in the choir from the age of 12. He attended Chiwala Boys in Ndola. His father was a Pastor hence it was not easy for him to adopt the rap culture. He recorded his first song in 2010 from Academics Entertainment in Kitwe which boosted his morale to advance with his musical career.

In 2011 he moved to Lusaka and did two singles from 428 Media both produced by Peezy Cables. Late in 2011 he was baptized and changed to gospel music. Having engaged in secular music earlier under 428, he later signed under the label. That same year he dropped his third single ‘Why Mi Here’ which was produced by Eazy. The song was accompanied by a video. He joined a gospel ministry group called Holy Hip-Hop Community.
