Doug Kazé

Doug Kazé is an Afro-soul and Afro-folk singer-songwriter from Jos, Nigeria.

Kazé began writing songs in primary school. His love for music was influenced by his father who had a wide collection of reggae music. Kazé also developed an interest in hip hop and R&B in the 1990s. He draws his musical style from such artists as Tracy Chapman, Ali Farka Touré and Boubacar Traore. Kazé's love for music prompted him to form a music group while in Grade 9.

Kazé later joined and led different church music groups where he learnt how to play the guitar. In 2004, he formed an independent band called Trybe of the Sealed. The ensemble is known for its unique Afro-soul and Afro-folk sounds.

In September 2014, he released two singles, 'Ya Mai Iko' and 'Run for Me', as well as a full length self-titled album. In 2016, he released the 'Paradigm Shift' album, which won the Album of the Year Award at the Jos Gospel Art and Music Awards (JOGAMAs) a year later.

Kazé has performed in Nigeria and South Africa and is working on his third album, 'Television'.
