M.I Abaga

Bio

Real name Jude Abaga, he was born in Jos Plateau State, though originally from Takum in Taraba State, Nigeria, in 1980 to a strict Christian family. Choral Hymns were his introduction to Music, he however carved his own creative path, sampling Rap lines and composing lyrics to them.

While a Business Administration student of Calvin College, Michigan, USA in 1998, he won the College's Rap talent show and this provided the motivation he had searched for to forge a career as a Rapper.

He returned to Nigeria in 2003 and found success with the hit single "Safe", which went on to win several awards, He teamed up with his brother Jesse Jagz and others to form the label Loopy Records. At about the same time, he was signed on to Chocolate City Entertainment and released the hit album "Lets talk about it". This won him several awards including the BET, Channel O, City People awards and many more. He has released several hit singles since this, all consistently successful, based upon which he maintains a busy International touring schedule.

He has also produced a number of Nigerian acts, such as Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, Wiz Kid and many more. His third studio album, The Chairman, won the Best Rap Album category at the 2015 Headies.

Besides his studio albums, MI has released two mixtapes, 'Illegal Music' (2009) and 'Illegal Music II' (2012). A third mixtape, 'Illegal Music III,' was released on 1 March 2016.
