Sphenzo

Sphenzo is a hip-hop artist from South Africa.
Siphelele Christopher Mdletshe also known as Sphenzo is a Hip-Hop artist from Hambanathi, a small township in Tongaat, north of Durban, South Africa. His smooth delivery and punchlines give his music an upbeat vibe and conscious feel.

At an early age, he had a deep love and passion for music. He started his music journey in 2002 and transitioned to music as a career in 2020 where he signed under Anthem Music Group (PTY) Ltd. Being born in a rural area, raised in a township, and studying in a multi-racial school exposed him to different sounds and cultures that are noticeable in his delivery. Like any child in South Africa, Sphenzo was influenced by the culture of music growing up, he was heavily inspired by Kwaito and Hip-Hop.

In November 2021 Sphenzo’s greatest highlight was working with Grammy Award winner Vincent Berry II the most celebrated for being the lead writer of “Sandcastle” on Beyonce’s highly acclaimed project “Lemonade”. Sphenzo was honored to compose his own lyrics and got featured on the song title “Gimme Gimme”.

Sphenzo’s first-ever performance was at Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) where he shared a stage with artists such as Mr. Eazi (Nigeria), Ladysmith Black Mambazo (South Africa), Ami Faku (South Africa), Dajla (Tunisia), during the Intra Africa Trade Fair (IATF 2021). Sphenzo has also showcased as the closing act during KZN Kwande Festival, CCIFSA-KZN provincial tour for EThekwini Metro at KCap- KwaMashu “#Keeping Art Alive”.
