Soa Meva
Bio
SOAMEVA is a bold, female-led music project born from the meeting of Fara Gasy, a singer and percussionist from Madagascar, and Eat My Butterfly, a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Réunion Island. Together, they blend powerful rhythms, traditional chants and percussion from Madagascar with electronic textures and live instruments like synths, steel pan and drums, creating a unique hybrid sound that is deeply rooted yet forward-looking.
The project explores the intersection of heritage and innovation, giving space to female voices and narratives rarely seen on stage in the Indian Ocean region. Through composition residencies, live performances and cultural exchanges across Madagascar and Réunion, SOAMEVA is crafting an immersive live set and preparing their debut album scheduled for release in 2026.
More than a musical duo, SOAMEVA is also a statement: claiming space for women as musicians, producers and creators in an industry still dominated by men. Their work builds cultural bridges between islands, while addressing issues of representation, identity and artistic independence with authenticity and strength.
