Olinda Simeão

Olinda Simeão is an Angolan singer and songwriter who began her artistic career in 2017 with the Teófilo Choir in Lubango. After eight months, she took her first steps as a performer in a duo with Ilukeyd Moura, with whom she worked for a year and a half.
In 2018, she was invited to participate as a temporary vocalist for the band Jazzando at the Etimbafestival (Benguela), an event conceived by Irina Vasconcelos. The talent she demonstrated during this performance led to her becoming a permanent member of the band.
As a songwriter, Olinda wrote her first work in 2020, the song "Lubango dos Sonhos," in collaboration with rapper Cellder Nascimento. The song was part of a multidisciplinary cultural project promoted by young Lubango residents (Teem Otyoto) that brought together names from film, music, theater, visual arts, and tourism, celebrating the city's cultural and historical richness.

Also in 2020, she began collaborating with the WSM studio in Lubango, deepening her knowledge of composition and music production. In 2022, she released her first solo project, the EP Entre4Ventos, a collaboration with local musicians.

In 2023, Olinda stood out at the Luanda Song Festival with the song "Sem Você por Cá," winning the Best Lyrics Award and the Grand Song Prize. That same year, she sang on a track on rapper MCK's album "Sementes," in collaboration with Daniel Nascimento (Mercados Aéreos), and was invited to perform at Filipe Mukenga's Trajetória concert in Luanda. In 2024, she was awarded the title by the Minister of Culture, Filipe Silvino de Pina Zau, as part of the celebrations for National Culture Day (January 8). That same year, she placed 4th in the public competition to create the lyrics and music for the National Anthem for Angola's 50th Independence, also participating as a performer on the winning song.

With a career marked by versatility, Olinda Simeão has established herself as one of the leading new voices in contemporary Angolan music.
