Musa Ngobeni, best known as Musique, is a singer, songwriter and percussionist from Johannesburg, South Africa. He was born on 12 December 1987. He enjoyed singing contemporary pop, RnB and gospel music at an early age. He enjoyed music from renowned artists like Brian McKnight, R-Kelly, Boys ll Men, NSYNC and Blackstreet Boys. He also draws inspiration from other prominent local singers such as Jeff Maluleke, Umanji and Colbert Mukwevho.

When he was a teenager, he performed as a lead singer at various concerts. In 2006, he stopped music to pursue a B.A. Journalism degree at the University of Johannesburg (UJ). He reignited his flair for music when he finished his studies. He was roped in as one of the songwriters for Choppa of the Margarida Fame.

His musical talent drew the attention of artists such as Theop, Hypnotik and Ma-t. He worked with Ma-t as a studio sessionist recording sound tracks for TV shows such as Soul City. Inspired by the likes of Vusi Nova, Khaya Mthethwa, Brian Themba and Loyiso Bala, Musique contemplated a solo musical career in 2015.

He worked alongside his brother and music producer The Semitonez. This saw him releasing a single titled ‘Zi Ryt iGalz'. He released another single called ‘Famba Na Mina’ which received airplay on radio and reaching over a 1000 downloads in less than 5 weeks.

Following the success of his maiden single, he started working on his debut album. the album features his mentor, Choppa and other locals acts such as Success Lepora, Deep Mental and Flow Master. To diversify his sound, he has teamed up with gifted international acts like Mr. Rhyma (Nigeria) and Lion Boy (Cameroon).

“People can expect a fusion of r&b, hip hop, afrosoul and Nigerian highlife music. Above all, they can look forward to an authentic sound that is influenced by my Tsonga heritage and upbringing in Limpopo, a province with one of the most fascinating population in South Africa,” MusiQue adds.
