Matt Roberts

Matthews Robert Banda, well known as Matt Roberts as his stage name,
is a multi-talented musician, events host, graphics designer and
photographer with a great passion to grow in the music and arts industry
with the aim to help under privileged children, youth and women in
Malawian community through music and arts.
Matt Roberts is a professional photographer, and a freelancer graphics
designer and currently he is studying a professional music certificate at
Music Crossroads Academy Malawi
Matt Roberts is an afro-ethno and afro-pop musician from the southern
region part of Malawi. His music is inspired by local Malawian traditional
rhythms and Malawian folk songs but he is also inspired by other local and
international musicians like Lawi, Faith Mussa, Salif Keita, Richard Bona
and many more. Apart from his vibrant and energetic voice Matt Roberts plays keyboards, local
instruments like; shakers, Malawian djembe & Badza (a Malawian local music instrument) and he is a
Saxophone student at Music Crossroads Malawi
Matt Roberts performs his original compositions and common covers
in the public domain and he has performed and participated in
notable events like Pakhonde Ethno Music Festival (2022&2023),
Ethno Malawi 2022, MCA Shutdown Concert, and Royal Rangers
Africamp 2017, in churches, and other local venues & concerts
MATT ROBERTS’ MOTIVATION
Matt Roberts is a self-proclaimed people’s ambassador; he uses his
music as a tool to speak against issues affecting under privileged
people specifically children and women. Growing up in a single
parent family raised by only his mother since birth, he grew up with
a lot of challenges both psychological & physical challenges.
Matt Roberts realises that he can use his music and other relevant
skillsto address issues affecting specifically single parent women and
their children
Matt Roberts started music back in 2014 in a church choir, later I realized He could do more with his
music than just singing in front of a small church community, He rather thought He could reach many
with a message of change. Matt Roberts started writing his own songs in 2016 that's when I realized
most song I was writing where addressing bigger issues affecting our communitie
