Bio

Okyeame Kwame is a Ghanaian rapper. Born in 1976, he is the third of six children. He was born in Nsuta in the Ashanti region of Ghana. Drawn to rap music from a young age, he performed local shows while in secondary school. Kwame graduated as a linguist and is in the process of acquiring a master in marketing strategy at the University of Ghana Business School.

He released four albums as a member of a duo from 1997 to 2002. He has released materials on his own record label One Mic Entertainment since. In 2009, Kwame cause controversy after he declared himself Ghana’s Best Rapper Alive on a song. Current president of the Musician’s Union of Ghana Obrafour took umbrage and challenged Kwame to a rap battle that was declined. The two have settled.

He has released ‘Boshe Ba’ (2004), ‘Manwesem’ (2008), ‘The Clinic’ (2011) and ‘The Versatile Show’ (2012) as a solo artist. He is involved in philanthropy, raising funds for free hepatitis screening of Ghana’s less-fortunate citizens.
