ZIMBOITA

ZIMBOITA (Zimbo + Ita-lian) is a four piece international which stands for Zimbabwe Italy music collaboration. The project was designed to celebrate friendship, culture exchange, fusion of music styles and instruments. It is fronted by local drummer/percussionist Blessing Chimanga and internationally acclaimed artistes Max Covini and Mateo Boldin.

ZimboIta plays a style of music that they have named Afro Blues which is a style that has an African touch through blues influence. The songs are originally composed in Shona, Ndebele, Italian and English. The band was formed in 2012 and has toured Zimbabwe and Italy several times.
The band also has toured and played in South Africa, Zambia, Sweden and Switzerland. In Zimbabwe, they have collaborated with musicians such as Hope Masike, Dudu Manhenga, Baba Shupi, Tehn Diamond, Tariro Negitare and the Watershed College Music Department. In Italy they have collaborated with musicians such as Amanda Labanda, Alberto Colombo, Romeo Fortunato and the Academia School.
