Tenten
Bio
Tatenda, known professionally as Tenten, is a Brooklyn-based producer whose music reflects a lifetime of global transit. Born in Zimbabwe and raised in South Africa, Tenten spent four formative years in Switzerland before settling in New Jersey. This nomadic upbringing fueled a deep-seated rejection of mainstream sounds, turning Tatenda into a dedicated record collector, avid showgoer, and student of the underground.
Immersed in the fertile New York and New Jersey underground scenes between 2015 and 2019, Tenten was captivated by the era's signature aesthetic: drumless loops, surreal art, and the raw grit of the Roland SP-404. Inspired by the legendary MF DOOM’s use of the machine, Tenten bought an SP-404 and launched his production journey in 2019, sharing early beats on SoundCloud before advancing to Bandcamp and major streaming platforms.
By 2020, Tenten was collaborating with core underground talents like Wavy Bagels, Moye P, Benji Socrates, and Nothin Neue. Driven by emotion and a refusal to be boxed in, Tenten delivers a versatile, evolving soundscape rooted in hip-hop, heavily influenced by Dr. Dre’s drum precision, and constantly pushing toward new sonic horizons.
