Hanna Lyricist
Bio
Hanna is a Zimbabwean-Ethiopian rapper, lyricist and singer who first drew widespread attention while studying at the University of Cape Town, where she moved in 2017 after growing up in Zimbabwe and developing a deep love for music and complex lyricism from a young age. Her breakthrough came in 2018 when a freestyle video she shared on social media went viral, garnering significant views and catching the eyes of established artists, and in 2019 she was selected for Mr Eazi’s emPawa100 and the Red Bull/Tall Racks “Lift As You Rise” program — milestones that helped elevate her career. Since then, she has released a string of singles and projects blending hip-hop, R&B and pop influences, including her debut mixtape The Girl In The Durag and later work that earned award nominations and chart success, positioning her as one of South Africa’s most exciting and boundary-pushing voices in contemporary rap.
